Trevor Milton (born 1981/1982) is an American billionaire businessman, executive chairman and founder of Nikola Motor Company.

Early life

His father, Bill Milton, is a retired Union Pacific Railroad manager, and his mother, Sally Milton is a realtor.[3] He has a brother and three sisters.[3] The family moved to Las Vegas when Milton was a toddler, and returned to Utah when he was 8.[3] Milton is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and after high school went on a 18-month church mission to Brazil, where he became fluent in Portuguese.[3]

He attended one semester at Utah Valley State College, Orem, before leaving.[3]

Career

Prior to working at Nikola Motor Company, Milton was the CEO and founder of dHybrid Systems LLC, a natural gas storage technology company which was acquired by America's largest steel providers, Worthington Industries, Inc. [4]

Prior to dHybrid Systems LLC, he was the CEO and founder of dHybrid, Inc., which recalibrated diesel engines to run off both natural gas and diesel to reduce emissions. [4]

Prior to dHybrid Inc., he was the CEO and founder of upillar.com an e-commerce site, and CEO and founder of SGS Alarms, an ADT authorized dealer.[4]

In September 2019, Forbes assessed Milton's net worth to be at least $1 billion, as he owns at least 40% of his company, and it is valued at about $3 billion.[1]

Personal life

Milton is married, and lives in Phoenix, Arizona.[2] In November 2019, the Los Angeles Times reported that he had bought a 2,000-acre Utah ranch with a 16,800 sq ft riverside mansion for $32.5 million.[5]
