Transfer Gallery

Transfer (stylized as TRANSFER) is a gallery in Brooklyn, New York that was created in 2013. It was co-founded by Kelani Nichole.[1][2] Nichole, an independent curator, currently serves as the gallery’s director. Transfer was created to help online artists become more connected in a physical way. The gallery’s objective is to allow online artists to literally “transfer” their art into a physical context using four blank walls. Given these walls, artists can revert to drawing, painting, sculpture, or photography to recreate their online work.

In 2014, Transfer hosted 10 solo exhibitions,[3] along with more than a dozen other events. By its third year, the gallery had been home to a total of 29 solo exhibitions and currently has 21 artists with whom it collaborates regularly. Artists who have exhibited work at the gallery include Rosa Menkman,[3] Carla Gannis,[3] Marisa Olson, and Lorna Mills.[3]
