Trading Corporation of Bangladesh

Trading Corporation Of Bangladesh (TCB) (Bengali: ট্রেডিং কর্পোরেশন অব বাংলাদেশ (টিসিবি)) is a wing of the Commerce Ministry of Bangladesh to deal with different trades and businesses.[1] Currently the chairman of TCB is Brigadier General Hasan Jahangir.[2]

History

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh was established in 1972 to tackle the shortage of food and resources in Bangladesh following the Bangladesh Liberation war in 1971.[3] The government of Bangladesh reformed the structure of the trading corporation in 1996 and reduced the number of its employees. It has imported essential items during emergencies in Bangladesh and also exports some items.[4]
