Tornerò (I Santo California song)
"Tornerò" (Italian for "I Will Return") is a song by the Italian musical group I Santo California, released in 1974 as their debut single. The following year, the down-tempo love ballad became a number-one hit in Italy as well as a top five hit in German speaking countries. In Italy, it spent 3 consecutive weeks at no. 1 in June and July 1975, and was certified gold. In Switzerland, it remained at the top for 6 consecutive weeks in September and October 1975, and was the best-selling single of the year there.[1] The song has been covered by numerous artists in various languages.

- Michael Holm recorded the song in German as "Wart' auf mich (Du, wenn ich dich verlier')" for his 1975 album Wenn ein Mann ein Mädchen liebt. The song charted at no. 4 in Germany and no. 7 in Switzerland.[7]
- A French-language cover "Apprends-moi" was recorded by Mireille Mathieu for an album of the same name in 1975.

- In 1991, Engelbert Humperdinck recorded an English-language version of the song "Coming Home" for an album of the same name.
- Flemish singer Willy Sommers recorded the song in Dutch as "Kom terug" for the 1995 album Profumo d'amore. His version reached no. 30 in Belgium.[8]
- Amanda Lear recorded the song in English as "I'll Miss You" for her 1995 album Alter Ego, with the new lyrics written by herself and Helmuth Schmidt. The song was later included on her 1998 album Back in Your Arms and released as a promotional single in the same year.[9] In 2005, Lear recorded a more up-tempo version of "I'll Miss You" with German-Spanish singer Manuel Sanchez for his album Ambitious.
- Enzo Ghinazzi, better known as Pupo, released a cover of the song in 1998.
- Douglas Rebolledo covered this song in Spanish-language (taken from his eponymous album, released in 2003).
- Nino de Angelo released a cover of the song on his album Un momento italiano in 2004.
- In 2009, German singer Sandra Stumptner contributed lyrics to a new German-language cover of the song, "1000 Träume weit (Tornerò)". The single, released under the pseudonym Antonia aus Tirol, charted at no. 89 in Germany.[10] She re-recorded the song in duet with Sascha Heyna in 2013.
- Anna-Maria Zimmermann covered Antonia aus Tirol's version of the song reaching no. 68 in Germany in 2009.[11]
- Belgian band Swoop released a Dutch-language version of the song "1000 dromen ver" in 2010.
- Albano Carrisi recorded the song for his 2010 album The Great Italian Songbook.
