Overview

Lethwei

Since 1996, the stadium has been hosting the Golden Belt Championship tournament.[3]

On December 18, 2018, the stadium was the chosen venue for the third match of the notorious trilogy fights between Dave Leduc and Tun Tun Min, featured on La Fosse aux Tigres.[4][5]

On January 31, 2020, the stadium was host of the World Lethwei Championship for the first time with WLC 11: Battlebones.[6]

Training

Across from the stadium, is the Phoenix Letwhei Gym,[7] a local gym used to train and prepare fighters before they compete.[8]

COVID-19

In March 2020, all Lethwei events were cancelled in Myanmar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[9] The Ministry of Health and Sports of Myanmar decided to prepare quarantine centers across the country. The Thein Phyu Stadium was transformed into a makeshift quarantine center for Myanmar nationals returning from foreign countries.[10]

gollark: ComputerCraft computers actually just run via pure magic, not internal redstone logic.
gollark: (it's Lua)
gollark: I think that should work.
gollark: ```lualocal function div(n, divideby) local a = n local b = 0 while a > divideby do b = b + 1 a = a - divideby end return bend```
gollark: But in any case, if you can make a generalized computer, you can program it to divide things.
