The Shrink Next Door

The Shrink Next Door is a podcast by Wondery that tells the story of Isaac Herschkopf, a psychiatrist who abused his relationship with his patients to exploit them for personal gain. The podcast was written and hosted by Joe Nocera.[1][2] The podcast premiered on May 21, 2019, and consists of seven episodes.[3]

Reception

The Shrink Next Door was the number one podcast for three weeks straight on Apple's podcast charts.[2] The Shrink Next Door won the 2020 Webby Award for Documentary in the category Podcasts.[4]

TV Adaptation

On April 23, 2020, it was announced that Apple Inc. gave a straight-to-series order for an 8-episode limited series based on The Shrink Next Door for Apple TV+. The adaptation is written by Emmy winning writer Georgia Pritchett, and will be directed by Michael Showalter. Dr. Isaac Herschkopf will be played by Paul Rudd, and Martin Markowitz will be played by Will Ferrell.[5]

gollark: It's roughly an ender dragon, and I can but I don't know how permanent it is.

gollark: I'm not sure if we could box it in [HG]Tech™, but we could certainly move it.
gollark: The main obstacle would just be keeping one in place while IOing it, but obviously AS can do that.
