Thai Dai Van Nguyen

Thai Dai Van Nguyen (born 12 December 2001) is a Czech chess Grandmaster (2018) of Vietnamese descent.

Biography

Thai Dai Van Nguyen's father is a Vietnamese businessman.[1]

In 2011, Thai Dai Van Nguyen won the Czech Youth Chess Championship in the U10 age group.[2] After that, he twice in a row won the Czech Youth Chess Championship in the U12 age group (2012, 2013).[3][4]

He participated in the European Youth Chess Championships and World Youth Chess Championships in the different age groups. Best result - in 2019, in Bratislava Thai Dai Van Nguyen won the European Youth Chess Championship in the O18 age group.[5]

In 2017, he participated in the Budapest International Chess Tournaments First Saturday, where he won twice.[6][7]

In 2016, Thai Dai Van Nguyen was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title[8] and received the FIDE Grandmaster (GM) title two years later.[9] At just 16, Thai Dai Van Nguyen became the youngest chess grandmaster in the Czech Republic.

gollark: He was meant to be doing the obstacle course thing, didn't particularly do anything, and was told by Mr Wilde to work out how to use the xbox controller, which is doomed to failure I think.

gollark: I'm not clear exactly what everyone is doing, but:- Ojas and someone are doing mechanical/hardware design, which is general to basically all the challenges- me and Aidan are doing cameras and sensors, which generalizes to most of them- actually I have no idea if anyone else is doing anything
gollark: Only because lots of people are effectively just ignoring the team divisions.
