History
The first Texas Steakhouse & Saloon[2] restaurant was opened by Jack Winston[3] in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1989. In 1994, BNE formed the Texas Steak, Ltd. corporation and through it purchased all rights associated with Texas Steakhouse & Saloon. BNE then partnered with Line Management and began opening Texas Steakhouse & Saloon locations in North Carolina. In 2001, Texas Steakhouse & Saloon came under the sole management of BNE. As of October 2019, the company currently operates 11 restaurants,[4] all located in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina.[5] The restaurant was sold to CB Steaks, Inc. in August 2012.
When CB Steaks purchased the restaurant, they began releasing limited time offer menu items, and will do so for two years, to give a more holistic sampling of real Texas cuisine.
All restaurants required upgrades to kitchens to prepare for new food items. Along with the expanded menu, changes from store decor to staff uniforms and other upgrades are in the pipeline.
Cuisine
Texas Steakhouse & Saloon serves Texas-style cuisine, notably steaks, ribs and seafood which are prepared over live mesquite grills.[6] The Texas Steakhouse menu also includes burgers, salads and classic southern-style foods such as chicken fried chicken.
All Texas Steakhouse steaks are USDA Choice grade and aged for a minimum of 21 days.[7]
Programs
Texas Steakhouse & Saloon is an active supporter of the US Military, offering 10% discounts for all active duty and retired military.[8] One dollar of every purchase of its Grandma's Shortcake dessert is given to the Wounded Warrior Project.[9]
Texas Steakhouse & Saloon provides some coupons or small gifts as rewards for customers who would like to share their valuable feedback through Texas Steakhouse & Saloon customer survey,[10] since the candid suggestions will help it do better. Usually, the small surprise will be a $5 coupon for customers' next visit.
