The silver and bronze medals were awarded on the basis of the best performances against the winner or runner-up instead of the usual losing finalist or winner of a play-off between the losing semi-finalists. Therefore, the silver medals were awarded to Greeks Sophia Marinou and Georgios Simiriotis, as they won 9 games against the French team in the semifinals. The bronze medals were awarded to Greek Aspasia Matsa and Xenophon Kasdaglis, as they only won 8 games against the French team in the final.[2]
