Tawkify

Tawkify is a dating website that uses human matchmakers to select matches.[1]

Overview

Rather than having users find each others' profiles, Tawkify uses external human "Matchmakers" to pair members, one of whom is the co-founder of Tawkify, E. Jean Carroll. Tawkify facilitates opposite-sex and same-sex relationships in the United States and Canada.[2] Users don't see any photographs or personal information about any other user.[3] Matchmakers find profiles that they believe will match well and pair them. The Matchmakers will plan dates and collect date feedback from both parties after each match.[3]

History

Tawkify was founded by co-founders are E. Jean Carroll and Kenneth Shaw.[4] E. Jean Carroll is the writer of Elle magazine's "Ask E. Jean" column,[5] and author of four books.[6] According to The New York Times, "The two met years ago, when Ms. Carroll sought out Mr. Shaw...to help her design her own app".[7]

The Tawkify website launched in January 2012. In June 2012, Tawkify launched Mystery Date and Walkify.[3]

gollark: The one thing I don't seem to get is push notifications, because they all run through Google Cloud Messaging or something. Also a working Play Store, but you can just install the official one on top of microG.
gollark: It *mostly* works and does waaaay less data gathering.
gollark: Yay for Google's reliable products!
gollark: Also adblocking everywhere (except the oh-so-few sites satisfying my acceptable ads criteria), so I wouldn't notice if targeted ad networks did start serving relevant-to-my-speech ads.
gollark: My laptop, which I think has a mike, runs Linux, and my phone runs Lineage without Google services.
