Tanjib Ahsan Saad

Tanjeeb Ahsan Saad was a Bangladeshi cricket player of the 1980s. A right arm medium pace bowler, he played in two ICC Trophy tournaments for his country. He was also a member of the Bangladesh team that took part in the 2nd Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, in 1986. However, he didn't play in any of the matches, and never played any full ODI match.[1]

Early years

Although Saad played for the Central Zone against the touring Lankan side in January 1978, it was only during the 1981–92 season that he caught the full attention of the national selectors. A match winning haul of five wickets for Mohammedan MSC against their archrivals Abahani KC in the League title decider pushed him into the limelight. However, after being selected for the ICC Trophy in England (1982), he played only one match there.

Saad's best performance for the national side came during the tour of Pakistan in March 1986. He finished the tour with seven wickets at an impressive average of 16.14 per wicket. His best 4/50 came against a strong Lahore side.

In ICC Trophy

Year Matches Runs Wickets Average Best
1982 1 4 0 - -
1986 2 39 1 39.00 1/19
Overall 3 43 1 43.00 1/19

The record above isn't very impressive, but he was given little opportunity to prove his worth to the side. His best, 1/19 (from 12 overs) helped Bangladesh beat Kenya in a low scoring affair. But, for no explicable reason, he was dropped from the side for the next match against Malaysia. Ironically, the two matches that he played in the tournament, against Kenya and Argentina, were the only matches that the Bangladesh team won in the tournament. His overall economy rate (2.53) is very impressive.[2][3]

As an umpire

He is now a cricket umpire.

gollark: I host my site off a dynamic IP using the magic of dynamic DNS™. The main downsides of that are that there's some downtime when my IP updates, that my dynamic DNS provider is probably less reliable than a non-dynamic one, I can't really do things which require a static IP rather than just a static-ish domain, and I need to have a script run to update DNS which takes some nonzero amount of effort to install.
gollark: I don't think most VPNs will let your stuff listen on external ports. Also, they won't assign you a fixed IP *either*.
gollark: Also <@361606054154469376>, you might have a dynamic IP (probably do if it's a home internet connection), so you'll either need dynamic DNS or will have to give people the new one a lot.
gollark: The worst people can do with your IP is get your approximate location. Which is somewhat bad, but I'm sure people can decide for themselves whether they care much.
gollark: I would understand it if it was for security, and they actually had you provide a password/key, but generally they just do it to be annoying and stop users exporting data.
