Taher Shah

Taher Shah is a Pakistani singer and music producer. His best known songs are "Eye to Eye", "Angel" and "Farishta". He has a huge cult following,[1] and has been described as "Pakistan’s most spectacular internet celebrity" by Dawn newspaper.[2] It was thought that he left singing after receiving death threats,[3] but he released an animated Urdu song, "Farishta", in April 2020.[4]

Music career

Shah became famous in 2013 when he released his first song "Eye to Eye".[1] In an interview, he stated that it took him year and half to write the lyrics for the song and to complete it the whole project.[5] According to Indian Express, the song achieved " enormous success ",[6] and according to The Atlantic the song made him an "overnight pop sensation".[7] The song went viral on social media, and many artists dedicated their covers to the singer.[8] In 2016, his new video for the song "Mankind's Angel" was released,[9] causing what the BBC described as a "social media frenzy".[1]

In December 2016, it was announced that Shah had left Pakistan after receiving death threats.[3]


In April 2020, he released an animated Urdu song video named "Farishta" ("Angel").[4]

Taher shah currently resides in USA with his family.
