TS ECET

Telangana State Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS ECET) is a standardized entrance examination for Diploma and BSc mathematics students to enter into Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Pharmacy, programs in Telangana State, India. It is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE)[1]

TSECET 2019 exam is administered by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad across 14 regional centers in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. TSECET 2019 was held on 11-05-2019

TSECET enables Diploma and BSc Mathematics Students to enter into 2nd year of Undergraduate programs that include Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Pharmacy in Telangana State.

History

TSECET was formerly ECET examination conducted by Andhra Pradesh until 2014 (before formation of Telangana in 2 June 2014).

ECET exam used to be conducted by Andhrapradesh State Council of Higher Education administered by universities Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad till 2014.

Later from 2015 it is conducted as TSECET conducted by Telangana State Council of Higher Educationt and APECET by Andhrapradesh State Council of Higher Education.[2]

Pre-requisites

The minimum pre-requisites for taking the TSECET are:

  • Diploma of Engineering, Diploma of Technology, Diploma of Pharmacy or equivalent, depending on the program applied. A Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is also acceptable. Diplomas are accredited by the Telangana Board of Technical Education, with appropriate optional subjects or its equivalent.
  • Needs to be born in Telangana State or Andhra Pradesh.[3]
  • Candidates who have acquired Diploma in Fields of Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy by enrolling into schools recognized by All India Council for Technical Education are eligible to apply and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
  • 12th grade students are students are not eligible to apply as they don't possess Diploma Degree or Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
  • Candidates should have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology / Pharmacy/ B.Sc (Mathematics) Degree as the case may be with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) for entry into relevant courses.

Exam structure

The exam is structured differently for Engineering Stream and Pharmacy Stream. Within Engineering Stream, the exam format differs slightly between Diploma students and Bachelor of Science Math students.

Qualifying marks

The qualifying percentage of marks for obtaining a rank in TS ECET exam is 25% of the aggregate marks in the four subjects for diploma students and three subjects for B.Sc. (Mathematics, i.e., 50 marks out of a total of 200. However, in the case of SC/ST candidates, there shall be no minimum qualifying marks for ranking the candidates. The rank obtained with the benefit of relaxation of the minimum qualifying marks at the TS ECET by any candidate claiming to belong to SC/ST category will be cancelled in case the claim is found to be invalid at the time of admission.[4][5]

Results

Results are announced in TSECET website. The candidate result includes integrated rank and branch rank;

Integrated rank: Rank obtained by the candidate considering all branches papers in TSECET[4]

Branch rank : Rank obtained by the candidate in his/her applied paper of TSECET exam.

Reimbursement

Reimbursement of the fee to Candidates offered by the Telangana Government is offered in two categories 1) Full Fee Reimbursement and 2) Semi Fee Reimbursement

Integrated rank plays a key role in allotting Reimbursement to the candidate.

1) Full Fee Reimbursement:

The government of Telangana allocates full fee Reimbursement under the following Conditions:

1) Candidate passed the TSECET exam.

2) The candidate has acquired integrated rank below 1000

3) Parents are not Government officials or Teachers .

Full Fee is given by the Telangana Government irrespective of the Tuition fee charged by different colleges of engineering in Telangana.

In Full Fee Reimbursement candidate total tuition fee of the Undergraduate program is Reimbursed irrespective of college the candidate is opted for in post result online counselling procedure through TSECET website

2) Semi Fee Reimbursement:

The government of Telangana allocates Semi fee Reimbursement(INR 35000/-) to the Conditions under following:

1) Candidate passed the TSECET exam.

2) The candidate has acquired integrated rank above 1000.

In Semi Fee Reimbursement candidate total tuition fee of Undergraduate program is Reimbursed irrespective of college the candidate is opted for in post result online counselling procedure through TSECET website[6][7]
