T. H. Musthafa

T. H. Musthafa is a Kerala politician who served as the Food Minister of Kerala from 1991 - 1995 while Karunakaran was the Chief Minister and Oommen Chandy handling Finance.[1][2] He is a five-time legislator belonging to Indian National Congress. He had made many development in kunnathunad constituency.

Mustafa was born and brought up in a Muslim family of India. He did his primary school education in his village and neighborhood. His grandfather and family were appointed as the tax collector of old royal family of central travancore. His family name is considered as one of the oldest and traditional family of the state. Traditionally they do farming as the income for the family. His grandfather was a farmer and lndlord.

He started his party leadership at age 16 as per party records. He was elected as DCC (District Congress committee) president for 14 years in Cochin. He was elected to legislative assembly for five times and once he served as minister for civil supplies. He elected for KPCC vice president, AICC member and much prestigious party leadership in Indian National Congress (INC). K. Karunakaran and Mustafa made the base for congress in Kerala. Presently Mustaffa has 55-year-old seniority in Congress Party.

His eldest son T M Sadik Ali was very active in college politics and now his successor is his youngest son T.M. Shaukath Ali Mustaffa and T.M. Zakkir Hussain; both of them are active in Indian politics. Mr. Zakkir Hussain is a KPCC Member from Kerala. T.M. Zakkir Hussain was the president of KSU (Kerala Students Union) since 1990. Zakkir Hussain is a full-time social service person in Kerala. He is a board member of MES Group.

His family includes social activists, farmers, engineers, doctors, management professionals as their profession.

Education

Mustaffa completed high school in 1965. He discontinued his studies due to lack of good schools in his neighborhood.

It has visibly seen that Mustaffa keeps young and educated people around him to compete with new generation leaders and politicians.

Mustaffa served as the head for several Kerala government organizations including Kerala state khadi board. Lmtd, Rubber Marketing board. Lmtd, CIAL (Cochin International airport limited), etc. Noted educated IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS officers served Mustaffa in his entire political career. Rather than his educational qualifications, Mustaffa was considered a go-getter and trend maker politicians of India.
