SweetWorks Confections, LLC is a candy and chocolate manufacturer headquartered in Buffalo, New York and is an entity of by Chocolat Frey North America. SweetWorks manufactures high quality confections in North American production facilities in Buffalo, New York and Toronto, Ontario.

Chocolat Frey North America is a subsidiary of Migros who is Switzerland's largest retail company, its largest supermarket chain and largest employer. It is also one of the forty largest retailers in the world. It is structured in the form of a cooperative society (the Federation of Migros Cooperatives), with more than two million members.

History

In 2014, Chocolat Frey North America headquartered in Buffalo/NY, acquired SweetWorks Confections LLC and its manufacturing facilities in Buffalo and Toronto. SweetWorks offers a variety of chocolate, confections, and gum products under the following brand names: Chocolat Frey®, Sixlets®, Celebration by Frey™, Ovation by Frey™, Niagara by Frey™, and Bubble King®.

SweetWorks Confections began in 1956 as Niagara Candy & Ice Cream in Buffalo, NY. The company was family owned and operated as such for over 50 years. As business grew, Niagara Chocolates acquired Oak Leaf Confections in 1998 expanding its capabilities to include an additional production facility in Toronto, ONT which allowed entry into further confections categories including Sixlets, gumballs and dextrose. SweetWorks Confections, LLC was formally created in 2002 combining both businesses.

Effective January 1, 2014 SweetWorks was acquired by Chocolat Frey AG, Switzerland, Switzerland's #1 Chocolate Manufacturer.[1]

Fundraising

Niagara by Frey (formerly Niagara Chocolates) SweetWorks has a long tradition in Fundraising for the local community. Supporting the community has always been a large part of the Niagara by Frey mission and each year and through the years its programs have helped raise millions of dollars for schools and organizations of all types. Available programs include year-round candy bar fundraisers, Easter catalog fundraisers and Holiday catalog fundraisers.
