Swabhoomi

Swabhoomi (also spelled Swabhumi, translated as 'Own Land') is a 2013 Bengali drama film co-produced and directed by Ujjal Chatterjee.[2] It is based on Mahasweta Devi's novel Adhobha.[3][4] Set against the backdrop of Nandigram violence, the film revolves around a woman whose husband goes missing after she joins a protest against land encroachment by government.[5] It stars Tapas Paul, Debashree Roy, Satabdi Roy, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Pradip Mukherjee, Barun Chanda, Debesh Roy Chowdhury and Jackie Shroff.

Reception

The movie received negative reviews upon release. The Times of India gave the movie a rating of 1/5 stars. The critics criticized the performance and dubbing of Jackie Shroff and direction of Ujjan Chatterjee, while praising the performances of Barun Chanda and Debesh.[8]
