Super Concert of the Century

The Super Concert of the Century was a co-headlining tour by the diva Diana Ross and the two tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras. The tour, which began with a show in Budapest, played a total of three shows across Asia during 1997. Super Concert of the Century reached a total attendance of 229,000.

Background

Concert plans, announced by Domingo during a Los Angeles press conference. In 1997, Diana Ross sang at Chiang Kai-shek in Taipei in front of 65.000 people join Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras. The same year they played at Osaka Dome in front of 42.000 people and later at Nepstadion in Budapest in front 80.000 people. They were called to celebrate the 1.100th Anniversary of the State of Hungary by the Magyar Arpad , as part of a yearlong series of cultural programs.
