Steve Douglas (sportscaster)

Steve Douglas (c. 1911 October 8, 1981)[1] was a Canadian sportscaster, most notably with CBC Sports.

Douglas was a sports anchor for CBLT in Toronto and an announcer for the CFL on CBC from 1953–1965. At the CBC, Douglas called ten Grey Cups and the 1964 Tokyo Olympics [2] and hosted Weekend in Sports,[3] Football Huddle,[4] Locker Room,[5] and World of Sport.[6] Douglas' contract was not renewed by CBC in 1965 because he objected to the network's decision to cut the daily sportscast from fifteen minutes to eight minutes.[7] After his time with the CBC, Douglas worked for the Ontario Jockey Club and later moved to Barrie where he covered sports for CKVR-TV.
