START is a Russian media-services provider and production company headquartered in Moscow, Russia, founded in 2017 by Yellow, Black and White.[1]

The company's primary business is its subscription-based streaming service which offers online streaming of a library of films and television programs, including those produced in-house. It is available worldwide except in Ukraine due to local sanctions.

The service was launched as OTT-platform. It is also a studio which combines the business of production and distribution of Russian-language content across the world.

Owners

The streaming video service Start.ru was created by YBW Group (Yellow, Black and White) with the cooperation of TCT Production Ltd., which has been part of Gazprom Media since 2017.[2]

gollark: Apparently their initial plan was just to hope for herd immunity or something, based on models they came up with for a flu pandemic, but said plans had handwaved the issue of ventilators, and the models didn't actually match COVID-19, and it took them a while to actually do something about this.
