Organization

The agency is currently headed by Sheriff Roger L. Harris.

  • Patrol Division This includes: K-9 Unit, Emergency Response Team, Equestrian Unit, Crisis Negotiations Unit, Search and Rescue, Dive Team, Traffic Unit, Bicycle Patrol Unit, and Lake Patrol.[1]
  • Administrative Services Division The duties of the PSD include: Recruitment and Employment, Accreditation, Internal Affairs Investigations, and Training.[2]
  • Crime Prevention The programs include: Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, Crime Solvers, and TRIAD.[3]
  • Police Exploring Program The SCSO Explorer Division is a program that allows teenagers to learn and gain experience in the field of law enforcement. They have training courses, support community events, and they can ride with a deputy around Spotsylvania County.[4]
  • Criminal Investigations The Criminal Investigations Division handles the assignment, closure and filing of all criminal cases for all divisions within the Sheriff's Office.
