History and profile

The website was launched on 12 October 2000[1] by Sami Almalki, Adel Almalki, and Imran Athunayyan. In addition to being a news site, Sport4ever contains a rich historical information and a variety of sections like sport reports for players and clubs from around the world. The site incorporates libraries of images, videos, journals, matches schedules and so on. Sport4ever reached its summit glory in 2006 when it became one of the top 600 sites in the world according to Alexa.[2]

On 1 April 2006, and in undisclosed deal, Maktoob announced that it had acquired an 80 percent stake in Sport4ever.[3] The process was finalized on 24 April 2006.[1] Later, Maktoob acquired the remaining stake. In 2009, after Yahoo! bought Maktoob, Sport4ever, and other Maktoob forums and websites, became affiliates of Yahoo!.

In November 2014, Yahoo! shut all Maktoob forums and websites, including Sport4ever.[4][5]
