History

The Adelaide Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1839, three years after the Colony of South Australia was established. The South Australian Chamber of Manufactures was established in 1868. They merged in 1972 to form the Chamber of Commerce and Industry SA Inc. The South Australian Employers' Federation formed in 1889 and merged with the Chamber in 1993 to result in the current organisation.[1]
