Songbird is an upcoming American romantic-thriller film directed by Adam Mason, who co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Boyes, and produced by Michael Bay, Adam Goodman, Andrew Sugerman and Eben Davidson. The film will star KJ Apa, Sofia Carson, Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Peter Stormare, Paul Walter Hauser, Bradley Whitford and Jenna Ortega.

Premise

During a pandemic lockdown, a young man must overcome martial law, murderous vigilantes and a powerful, well connected family, to reunite with his love.

Production

On May 19, 2020, it was reported that Michael Bay, Adam Goodman and Eben Davidson would produce a film about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, titled Songbird. Adam Mason, who co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Boyes, was set to direct.[1]

In June 2020, Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Peter Stormare and Paul Walter Houser were cast.[2] In July, Bradley Whitford, Jenna Ortega, KJ Apa and Sofia Carson joined the cast.[3][4]

The cast were remotely trained in preparation for the shoot.[1]

Filming

Principal production commenced on July 9, 2020, in Los Angeles, California.[3] Filming was initially halted by SAG-AFTRA, who granted the production permission to proceed a day later.[5] The film wrapped on August 3, 2020.[6]
