Sivagiri has an average elevation of 199 metres (653 ft). It is located 25 km (16 mi) to the south of Erode, 35 km (22 mi) to the north-west of Karur, 40 km (25 mi) to the west of Namakkal and 45 km (28 mi) to the east of Tirupur.

Sivagiri is an agriculture town in the city of Erode and belongs to Modakuruchi assembly.

J.Jayalalithaa government announced Government Arts college for Sivagiri town, but former MLA Kittusamy, moved the college location from Sivagiri to Ezhuumathur for his own Village. People conducted so many protests but nothing worked out.

The people majorly involves in Agriculture and other job creators are power loom, paddy cleaning, lath works, and electrical work.

Theeran Chinna Malai statue and Kodikatha Kumaran statue are located within the town.

There are

  • Shri Kuzhandhai Velayudha Swami temple,
  • Shri kamakshi Amman temple, *Pulippani Siddhar temple.
  • Another temple of Lord Shiva is located about 3 km away from Sivagiri towards Arachalur in a place called Vilakkethy the temple of Sri Vimalambika Samedha Vithgavinadheeswara exists and believed that Vilakkethi Siddhar performed poojas in this temple by lighting deepam and hence the name Vilakkethi came for this Village.

Demographics

As os 2011 India census,[1] Sivagiri had a population of 17,979 . Males constituted 51% of the population and females 49%. Sivagiri has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 55%. In Sivagiri, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
