Sint-Elisabeth Hospital

Sint-Elisabeth Hospital is the main hospital on Curaçao, located in the Otrobanda district of Willemstad.[1] A new hospital, Hospital Nobo Otrobanda, to be called the Curaçao Medical Center is being built and is planned to open in 2019.[2] Part of the existing hospital will be demolished. The contract for construction was let and managed by Stichting Ontwikkeling Nederlandse Antillen (Foundation for the Development of the Netherlands Antilles).[3] The costs of running the hospital will be higher because it will have more staff (about 1260) and have to meet management costs and depreciation which it did not do before.[4]

Facilities

The hospital has a decompression chamber and qualified staff to assist scuba divers suffering from decompression sickness. There is a kidney dialysis unit.

There are 500 beds.[5]

History

The first nursing home on the site, St. Elisabeth Gasthuis, was founded on 3 December 1855 by Monseigneur Ferdinand Eduard Cornelis Kieckens.

gollark: It could try going up if it hits an obstruction, or you could just make it stay a large amount above the waypoints and factor this in when creating the path tables.
gollark: When you want to go from A to B, you whatever first search waypoint paths from A to B, then at each waypoint check the position of the next one and fly to it.
gollark: Manually when configuring the waypoints, or with survey drones which check available waypoints when at each waypoint.
