Sindisiwe van Zyl (born 3 April 1976) is a South African physician and Radio DJ known for using social media to share HIV-related, mental health and other medical information.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Van Zyl was born in Harare, Zimbabwe.[4] She attended the University of Pretoria where she obtained a BSc in human physiology and psychology, and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree.[5] Dr Sindisiwe Van Zyl interned at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.[6]

Career

She uses Twitter, mainly, to inform and engage about HIV particularly Prevention of mother to child transmission. She shares about her personal journey with depression and physician burnout[7][8] Dr. van Zyl chronicles how she lost 41 kg while on a Banting diet.[9]
