Sikander Zaman Khan

Sikander Zaman Khan (Urdu: سکندر زمان خان) (born 7 November), known as Sikander, is a Pakistan-based doctor, actor and host, born in Peshawar to a Pathan family.

Sikander completed his primary education in Japan. He later moved back to Pakistan along with his family. Sikander continued his secondary education at Frontier Model School and attended PAF Degree College in Peshawar, Pakistan. After completing his intermediate studies, Sikander got an admission in a medical college in Karachi where he continued his MBBS studies. He started his career as an actor in Karachi after winning the first ever acting reality show of Pakistan, the Indus Reality Show.

Acting career

Sikander Zaman Khan began acting professionally after winning the first ever reality acting show of Pakistan, the Indus Reality Show by Indus Vison in 2006. The show went on air for six months achieving the highest TRP of any reality show ever made in Pakistan until this point in time.

After getting recognition as a winner and strong performer Sikander Zaman signed a soap Hospital with Indus Vison which was a sequel to all-time blockbuster series Ambulance. During ambulance Sikander have been offered the most strong role of his acting career at such an early stage in 2009 Lux style Award-winning TV serial (terrestrial) Thora sa aasman based on Umera Ahmad best-seller novel.[1] from PTV.[2] with legendary director of Pakistan kaazim paasha.[3] costarring Sadia imam, Dnan Jilani, Farhan Ali Agha, Hina Dilpazir & Aliya Imam. After getting huge amount of appraise from media and public sikander next appearance was in supremely talented director Mohsin Tallat's and Evernew production's serial Tikone on ARY digital.[4] costarring Faisal Gureshi, Azfer rehman, Noor, eshita, farhan ali agaha. Also Sikander appeared in superstar jamalshah production's serial Nurse from ptv Home islamabad directed by Abbas Kakar in a special appearance. Along with such big serials sikander went on working in multiple Telefilms in leading roles, among which most popular were Bangla no 101 costarring Qavikhan on indisvison directed by Shahid Nizami, hum telefilm award winner telefilm Tawer se sarjani tak on Humtv directed by iconic director Abdullah Badini and three telefilms of ramadan series with legendary director Qasim Jalali on ARY Digital. Along with serials and telefilms. Sikander also appeared in few hit sitcoms of that time such as Dil to Pagal hai on indusvison & Atiqa O on humtv with Atiqa Odho. Sikander zaman hosted the labour day show as a leading host from ptvhome in 2008 and also motherday show on indusvison and also produced, host and directed concert show of strings in 2011.Sikander have been invited as a guest rising actor in famous shows of that time such as morning show Sola singhaar with Amber and youth show Cafe Vison with humayun saeed. Along with MBBS, working as an actor was not an easy job,but in spite of all hardships Sikander managed to get good work on TV with renowned directors and got some face recognition. Due to tough schedule of medical studies Sikander decided to give a break to acting and continued study to justify with both jobs. Sikander last appearance on TV was Evernew productions hit serial Tikon.After tikon Sikander took a break and completed MBBS study. During the gap period Sikander was offered a habib bank commercial with Shahid Afridi which sikander refused due to a small appearance and a role in a movie which he refused due to busy doctor schedule. After the Hiatus of two years since 2011 Sikander did his comeback on TV screen from ptv HOME with EID play Bakra Lottery Ptv Home Eid Day-2013.[5] for which he gained lot of coverage from press in leading newspapers such as dailymashriq.[6] and jang.[7] Sikander is also planning to come back with health plus entertainment show on satellite TV.

Medical career

When Sikander was admitted to medical college Karachi, Sikander migrated to the metropolitan city for the better studies and future. Sikander worked very hard to cope, and managed to achieve the same position which his other batch mates were on, and he became successful in spite of busy acting schedule. Sikander were doing good both at acting and medicine and was climbing a ladder in acting and medical along with his contemporaries. By the end of 4th year of medical studies Sikander realised that further medical study require much more attention and it is not possible to carry both jobs together and it was a very hard decision at such stage. At last Sikander chose to give a break as he could not ignore the hard work he put in studies and money he invested all the four years in medicine. Sikander also did a research project during his MBBS years on the health problems of transporters in Pakistan for which he got lot of appreciation from the senior faculty members and that project is yet to publish. Sikander also took part in many personality development programs during his MBBS studies at his institute levels and got a chance to deliver it along with personalities such as junaid jamshed, Anwer maqsood. Sikander also worked as editor in magazine society focusing on the doctors and their contributions along with Pakistan-based Japanese senior vice-president of Pakistan-Japan culture association Azmat Ataka.[8] Sikander also was an active member of drama society and got a chance to learn writing play from legendary personality Fatima Suraiya Bajiya. After finishing MBBS due to critical situation of Karachi and high pressure of family to move back to the former home city, Sikander moved back to Peshawar and continued as a house officer at Khyber teaching hospital. In November 2012 Sikander after finishing house job continued as a medical officer. Now Sikander is specialising in General Surgery along its acting.
