Shivnarayanpur

Shivnarayanpur is a village in the kahalgaon block and under pirpainti vidhansabha seat of Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India.[1] It is one of the two villages credited as a single census town Madhura Siwanpur, the other being Mathurapur. As of 2001, the total population was 1054.

Traditionally, the village is known as Mathurapur. The name Shivnarayanpur came into being due to a goof up in naming of the railway station. It is also one of the biggest and oldest mandis for agriculture produce (mainly vegetables, pulses and jaggery) in Bihar. It is one of the biggest producer of Mango and Chili. In recent times the area has come up with vast acreage of mango cultivation and langra mangoes from here have a name and are much sought after in as far off markets as Kolkata and Bangladesh. Vikramshila vishwavidalya is situated near shivnarayanpur which is a national heritage maintained by archeological survey of India.the ganga ghat known as bateishwernath is also situation near this village. The Mathurapur station , Shivnarayanpur station is named after Shivnarayn Ram, grandfather of Dr. A.K.Sinha who was revered as a King or "Raja" in hindi , by the people of Mathurapur . He was a man of great honor and strength. He was a land owner, he was kind to his people and a true beacon of Indian strength., He was a member of the Bihari royal family or The Sinha family of Bihar , especially Shivnarayn Ram helped bring the railway systems in Bihar during the rule of the British Govt. The current members of the royal family now have given much of their lands including a lake to the Bihar government for the better development of the people. The family's descendants now live in Bhagalpur , the son of A.K Sinha has two sons Ashish Sinha and Nitin Sinha and their firstborns Annanya Sinha and Arin Sinha who are directly related to the bloodline of the 'King' Shivnarayn Ram who made Mathurapur famous for its originality, its mangoes, its chilies , by connecting it to the rest of the world through the Railways. Hence the obvious choice of the name, Shivnarayanpur.

A Food park is coming near the village under the MFPI scheme for which the government of Bihar has allocated 80 acres of land out of the 1600 acres acquired for an industrial growth centre.
