Shawn Harris
Shawn Harris (born June 24, 1982) was the lead singer and guitarist for pop punk group The Matches.[1][2] He is an artist and has done the art for several albums, including Matchbook Romance's Voices and Bayside's Shudder. He was born in Berkeley, California, and attended Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland. He is a strict vegan and has appeared on PETA's YouTube channel to explain why he chose this eating lifestyle.[3] He has mentioned many times that his goal in music is to write the best song ever, and he believes that Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is the best song ever.[4]
He is currently involved in Maniac, a project with Jake Grigg of Australian rock band Something with Numbers. They released an EP titled "Extended Play," both digitally and on vinyl, on June 10, 2010. They are currently working on their debut studio album, titled Mania. They briefly ran a blog where they posted a cover of the number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100 each week.[5]
He provided vocals to the song "Doctor Doctor" by the American band Forgive Durden.
Harris left The Matches (who are currently on hiatus) in 2010.
In 2013, he released an album and video for Fortress Social Club based in Los Angeles, CA.
In 2015 he releases music under the moniker of St. Ranger. The album "Leaves L.A." was released on February 8, 2016 via Pretend Record. The singles and videos "Dream Is Alive[6]" and "Billy Brown[7]" are taken from this album.
