History

The school draws its name from Padmabhushan recipient,[2] Seth Mungtu Ram Jaipuria, a philanthropist and industrialist who played a dominant role in the industrialisation of the nation after independence. Founded by his son, Sharad Jaipuria in 1992,[3] the school is run under the aegis of Integral Education Society, Kanpur. P. Arvindakshan was the Founder Principal (1992-2009).

Organization

Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman and Managing Director of Ginni International Ltd. New Delhi is the Chairman of the school.[4] The management of the School comes under the purview of Integral Education Society, Kanpur of which he is the President. Another institution managed by the Integral Education society, is Jaipuria Institute of Management and this functions on the same campus.

The first principal of the institution was Mr. P. Arvindakshan (1992-2009) and after him was Mrs. Anju Wal (2009-2015). The Vice Principal is Dr. Anupam Vidyarthi. The Administrative Officer is Surendra Pandey. The current principal of the institution is Mrs. Promini Chopra. Mr. Rahul Singh is the President of the Alumni Association.

Curriculum

The school prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (Year 10) and the Indian School Certificate (Year 12) Examinations. Preparing the students for the Cambridge School Certificate, UK and IB (International Baccalaureate), Geneva is under consideration.

Student startups

The students started the first Indian chapter of Global Zero, the international movement for nuclear disarmament, in December 2012.[5] [6] An annual debating event, the Jaipuria Model United Nations (JMUN) is organised in May–June. Hundreds of students participate in this event. Several committees are organised which give the students an opportunity to defend, deliberate and deliver their best. It is a well-organised three day event with trained students handling their committees with sincere commitment and devotion. JMUN celebrated its seventh edition with Ambassador Deepak Vohra as its Chief Guest.
