Sclerodoris prea

Sclerodoris prea is a species of sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, shell-less marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusks in the family Discodorididae.[1]

Distribution

The distribution of Sclerodoris prea includes Florida, Venezuela, Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados and Panama.[2]

Description

The body is oval and mantle is rigid.[2] Dorsum is covered with numerous caryophyllidia.[2] Larger tubercles are arranged in two rows along the visceral hump, with a longitudinal depression in the center.[2] Rhinophores are elongate, gill is composed of multipinnate branchial leaves.[2] Background color is cream-brown with numerous dark brown spots.[2] Black patches are present along the center of the visceral hump.[2] Rhinophores are cream with dark spots and gill is gray with opaque white spots.[2] The maximum recorded body length is 40 mm.[3][2]

Ecology

Minimum recorded depth is 1 m.[3] Maximum recorded depth is 3 m.[3] It was found under rocks in Panama.[2] This species probably feeds on sponges.[2]
