Scarlet-shouldered parrotlet

The scarlet-shouldered parrotlet (Touit huetii), also known as the red-winged parrotlet or Huet's parrotlet, is a species of parrot in the family Psittacidae.

It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.[2]

Description

It is 16 cm (6.3 in) in length and weighs 60 g (2.1 oz).[2] It has white eyerings and dark lores.

Behaviour and ecology

Diet

Its diet consists mainly of fruits, seeds, berries and small nuts.[2]

Habitat and distribution

Its range encompasses Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. It mainly inhabits forest edge and understory in terra firme and varzea forest. It has been observed up to an elevation of 1,200 m (3,900 ft).[2]
