Satej is the son of Dr. D Y Patil who is the former Governor of Bihar state in eastern India. Satej studied at Shivaji University[3] in Kolhapur. His performance in studies was average, however, he was active in student politics. He was elected as Chairman of Shivaji University Student Council, Kolhapur in 1992-93. Satej started his career in public service when he was elected to the Kolhapur District Central Co-op Bank, 2001 as a Director from Gaganbawada Taluka, Kolhapur.[4] Satej is married to Pratima[5] (daughter of Vijaykumar Govindrao Patil). They have two children, Tejas and Devashree. Satej's Brother, Vijay Patil is the President[6] of D.Y.Patil Group.

Life Sketch

Born on 12 April 1972, Satej Patil had a tryst with his politics with elections of the Student Council of Shivaji University. During 1992-93 Satej D. Patil was on the advisory committee for Adult Education and Continuing Education of Shivaji University and was a member of the Senate of Shivaji University during 1995-1999.

In August 2000 at the age of 27 years, he established Padmashree Dr.D.Y.Patil Co-operative Sugar Factory. In 2001 elections, he was elected as the Director of KDCC Bank from Gaganbawada Taluka. He was re-elected as the Director of KDCC Bank in the year 2006.

Being the son of a renowned personality from the educational field of Maharashtra, Satej Patil was tempted to enter this fraternity and to carry forward the good work of his father. His dream came to a realization on 23 May 2003 with being elected as the Chairman of Shree Mouni Vidyapeeth Gargoti, one of the most renowned educational institutions of Maharashtra. He decided to be more active with Dr. D.Y. Patil Kala, Krida, Shaikshanik & Sanskrutik Trust Kolhapur. He promotes art and sports, providing good educational infrastructure to the students and restoring the cultural heritage through the socio-centered activities of the trust.

He was an independent candidate from Karveer in the State Assembly Elections held in October 2004 and won with a margin of more than 42 thousand votes.

Traditionally flowers, bouquets, and shawls are presented to political and social leaders on their birthdays. This leads to a large flower waste which causes water pollution. Also, during his visits to rural areas of Kolhapur district Satej [Bunty] D. Patil learned that there were a number of students who could not afford notebook expenses and thus were unable to cope with the increasing competition in their education. In those times, it was quite easy for him to ask the wealthy people of the society to bear this expense annually. In 2007, he asked and appealed people for giving birthday greeting in the form of notebooks' donation, till date more than 65 Lakh notebooks have been collected and over 14 Lakh 69 thousand needy students have benefited from this initiative. Many political leaders are now following this and some other similar methods for resolving social problems without any economic assistance from the government.

On 5 November 1995, Satej married Pratima Patil, daughter of Shri Vijaykumar Govindrao Patil. The couple is blessed with two kids Tejas and Devashree.

Satej [Bunty] D. Patil was aware of the secondary social status of women in those days and was willing to improve their situation. Fortunately Sou. Pratima Patil proved a great help in this aspect as she is the encouraging and instrumental factor for the organization of Gruhini Mahotsav held annually for the last fifteen years. This event has provided a platform for women for exhibiting their industrial, business and commercial skills. Till date, more than 7000 Mahila Bachat Gat (self-help groups) have been established and over 50 thousand women have learned various professional skills from about 5500 skill training camps conducted in the district.

All-round knowledge, power of grasping, recognizing social problems, frankness, prompt decisions and a desire to work for the weaker sections of the society are the signatory features of the personality of Satej [Bunty] D Patil. He promotes technology and is tech-savvy himself. Therefore, he is fighting hard and is persistent in making Kolhapur a national pilgrimage travel destination, an IT hub and in construction of a fully-equipped airport at Kolhapur.

Life of Satej (Bunty) D.Patil is indeed an example for the youths all over the country for many years to come...

gollark: It's all flash memory.
gollark: On an FPGA or something yes, otherwise probably not. And it won't be very usable.
gollark: It's especially great because flash wears down over use.
