After working in theatre for four years, Sasha Sridevi Kumar made her film debut with the Malayalam film EMSum Penkuttiyum. The film began production in 2013 and starred Narain, Lal and Thampy Antony.[2] She landed the role after Antony, her family friend, recommended her.[2] In the film, she portrays the role of a Sri Lankan Tamil living in the United Kingdom, who wants to return to Sri Lanka, but her fiancé doesn't want her to go.[2] The film was shot in Sri Lanka and London and is based on the novel of the same name by Benyamin.[2][1] The film was the first Malayalm film to be shot in Sri Lanka after the civil war.[3] In 2015, she was signed to appear in an untitled ABC sitcom set in Las Vegas.[4] In 2016, she began production on her Tamil debut film Kaaviyyan starring Shaam, Athmiya Rajan, and Hollywood artiste Justin Vikash.[5][6] The film was shot in Las Vegas becoming the first Tamil film to be predominately shot in the city.[7][8][9] Although unfamiliar with the Tamil language, her knowledge of Malayalam enabled her to get through the initial struggles. In the film, she plays Isha Thomas, a 9-1-1 dispatcher.[10] In 2018, a promotional song featuring Sasha Sridevi Kumar walking and driving thorugh various locations including the Seven Magic Mountains in the Ivanpah Valley and Las Vegas Boulevard was released by Junglee Music.[11] However, both of her films were delayed in production with Kaaviyyan releasing only in 2019.[12]
