Her mother is of Russian descent, and her father is of English, with some German, Swiss-German, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh ancestry. Her mother is from a Russian family that lived in Shanghai and Harbin, China. Barrese was raised in Paris, France until she was 4 years old and she speaks fluent French. She attended Provo Canyon School in Orem, Utah County, Utah. Barrese also attended Ojai Valley School in Ojai, California, Lycée Français de Los Angeles in Los Angeles and The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. She continued on to Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts and graduated high school in 1999. Her modeling career began during her school years after modeling for Guess Jeans.[1]

Career

Barrese and her mother had their acting debut in the 1989 movie Homer and Eddie. The following year the pair starred as the younger and older versions of a character named Jezebel in 1990's Jezebel's Kiss. In all subsequent roles, she is credited as "Sasha Barrese" in lieu of her birth name, Alexandra Barrese.[2] Early in her career, Barrese had small roles in films American Pie (1999), Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) and Legally Blonde (2001). She appeared as Tess in three episodes of the comedy television series Just Shoot Me!, before landing her first lead role on the WB sitcom Run of the House. She portrayed Sally Franklin, one of four siblings left to fend for themselves when their parents relocate to Arizona. She then appeared as Caitlin Mansfield in the television drama series LAX set in the airport of the same name. She also appeared in episodes of Drive; Supernatural; Roommates; CSI: Miami; Trauma; Robot Chicken; and Leverage.[2] She had roles in the films The Hangover, The Hangover Part II, and The Hangover Part III, portraying Tracy Billings.[3][4] She also appeared in the 2010 horror film Let Me In.[5]

She has been playing poker, backgammon, gin and chess from an early age, saying “I'm Russian, so I've been playing games my whole life.”[6] Barrese announced her plans to become a professional poker player in May 2014.[6] She has competed in several poker tournaments, including World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 2014.[7]
