History[1]

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law the Republic Act 9083, creating the Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School on April 8, 2001. Cong. Uliran T. Joaquin of the First District of Laguna was its principal author.

The law was implemented in the school year 2002-2003 through the initiative and financial support of the local government of Santa Rosa led by Mayor Leon C. Arcillas.

Application Policies for Junior High School

  1. Applicant student must belong to the upper 20% of the graduating class, and has grades at least 85% in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and English as of 2nd quarter Grade VI, certified by the Principal.
  2. Average score in Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School Entrance Examinations or STENEX for Junior High is at least 85% or above in three (3) phases of assessment, namely:
  • Proficiency Examination in Mathematics, Science and English
  • Mental ability/aptitude Examination
  • Interview

Application Policies for Senior High School

  1. Applicant student must belong to the Top 20 of Junior High Batch and has grades of at least 85% in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Research.
  2. Percentile rank of 86% or above in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in NCAE (National Career Assessment Examination)
  3. Average score in Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School Entrance Examinations or STENEX for Senior High is at least 85% or above in the two (2) phases of assessment, namely:
  • Proficiency Examination in Mathematics, Science, English, and Research
  • Interview

NOTE: THE STENEX CAN ONLY BE TAKEN ONCE

These are implemented in a step-by-step format; which means that an applicant will be ineligible to be screened in the next stage if he/she fails on the previous stage. The final selection of first year entrants is also based on the number of slots set for the year by the City Government of Santa Rosa.

Curriculum[3]

Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School adopts Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Curriculum with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Program. It is focused on pure science and its applications to industry using the latest technologies. Computer rooms are to be linked to the internet, including multi-media classrooms. Instruction shall be supplemented with visits to known science institutions, laboratories & plants. The school shall maintain a well-stock library, and to subscribe to professional, scientific and technological magazines and manuals.

Grade Maintenance and Promotion Policies[4]

Standard Grades

Junior High

  • No failing grade in any subject for the school year.
  • 85% or above grade in Mathematics, Science, English, and Research.
  • 83% or above grade in other subjects.

Senior High

  • No failing grade in any subject from any semester.
  • 84.5% or above grade in specialized and applied subjects.
  • 82.5% or above grade in core subjects.

Under Academic Probation

If the grade in any subject is below standard,

The student shall submit Summer Class Attendance Certificate from another school for a subject or two (2) subjects below standard at year-end; otherwise, he/she shall not be allowed to enroll in the school for the following school year. When three (3) subject grades are below standard at year-end, the student shall transfer automatically to another school for the following school year.

NOTE: Since it is an English Implemented school, such policy is strictly observed. Proper behavioral decorum and attitude is also a must.
