Personal life
Lyon's younger brother Jack also became a footballer.[3] After pre-war service in the Territorial Army, Lyon served in the East Yorkshire Regiment during the First World War and suffered wounds which necessitated him spending 15 months in hospital.[2] After the war, he worked as a wholesale fish merchant and played bowls, at which he represented Yorkshire.[2]

gollark: Apparently my JS project from some months ago won't build for some cryptic reason, the newer version of the build tool I used pulls in about 850 dependencies, and there are several security vulnerability warnings during `npm install`.
gollark: No mods, though, so it's boring.
gollark: Python is apparently fine with this.
