Sam F. Davis Stakes
The Sam F. Davis Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held in February at Tampa Bay Downs racetrack in Oldsmar, Florida. It is open to three-year-olds and is run at a distance of 1 1⁄16 miles (8.5 furlongs) on dirt. It currently offers a purse of $250,000.[2]

The Sam F. Davis is frequently used as a prep race for the Grade II Tampa Bay Derby. Several winners of the race have gone on to win the Tampa Bay Derby, including Phantom Jet (1987), Speedy Cure (1991), Marco Bay (1993), Thundering Storm (1996) and Burning Roma (2001). It is part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby and frequently produces starters in that race.
In 2009, this race, which headlines Tampa Bay Downs' Festival Preview Day, was awarded Grade III status.[3]
The race was run in two divisions in 1984.
