Saif Sareea 3

Exercise Saif Sareea 3, Arabic for "Swift Sword 3", was a major military exercise in October and November 2018 involving the military of the United Kingdom and Oman. It was the largest joint exercise yet held by the two nations, and the UK's largest deployment to Oman since Saif Sareea II 17 years before.[1] Over 70,000 personnel from the Royal Army of Oman, the Omani Royal Navy, and the Royal Air Force of Oman, Omanian Special Forces Division and the Royal Guards Corps took part, as well as 5,500 British soldiers, sailors, and airmen. The exercise lasted 10 days.[2]

The culmination of the exercise was a firepower exercise on the 3rd of November, 2018. This consisted of a first phase in which Royal Marines and Omani troops assaulted a beach with naval fire-support, and a second phase involving a display of airborne firepower.[3]
