Saha (surname)

Saha (Bengali: সাহা) is a Bengali Hindu surname mostly residing in the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura, as well as in Bangladesh.[1] Members of various trading communities use the surname.[2] Several meanings of Saha include 'merchant', 'honest' and 'good'. The word Saha is derived from Sanskrit "Sadhu" . Meanwhile few people claims Saha as SC caste but government of India has rejected it . Because it has been found those people who claims specifically as Saha , their forefathers were actually traders, merchant or related to that . So it has been proved that they doesn't belong to SC quota . But at the same time it also has been proved that it not everytime possible that their next generation will always going to inherit sufficient wealth which is at the same time also true .[3]
