SVP Worldwide

SVP Worldwide is an American private company that designs, manufactures, and distributes consumer sewing machines and accessories around the world under three brands: Singer,[1] Husqvarna Viking, and Pfaff.[2]

History

SVP was formed when Kohlberg & Company, an American private equity firm that owned the Swedish VSM Group (owner of the Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff sewing machine brands), combined VSM with Singer,[3] which it acquired in 2004 for $134 million.[4]

In 2018, Kohlberg & Company sold SVP Worldwide to Ares Management, a publicly traded global asset manager based in Los Angeles.[5]

Management of SVP Worldwide is divided between the United States and Sweden. The company was founded in 2006[2] and was formerly headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda.[5]

Martha Stewart partnership

In April 2007, SVP Worldwide and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE: MSO) announced a long-term endorsement deal by Martha Stewart to promote SVP's machines and accessories.[6] In March 2008 it was announced that SVP would be an underwriter for Martha's shows Everyday Food and Everyday Baking from Everyday Food televised on PBS.[7]
