SRML Higher Secondary School
Sir Ranbir Higher Secondary School (SRHS) now known as Sir Ranbir Model High Secondary School (SRML) is a government school in Jammu. It was started by Maharaja Ranbir Singh in the late 19th century to promote higher education in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
SRHS is located near the Parade ground.
The school offers higher secondary courses under the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education. SRHS has an active National Cadet Corps wing. The campus features an inhouse botanical garden.
SRML boasts of an excellent academic legacy, producing a large number of top rankers in the higher secondary exams throughout its history. Admission to the school is marked by very high cut-off scores. Many SRML alumni have served the nation in many fields, most notably General N.C.Vij, who served as the 21st Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.
Today the school faces infrastructure problems, with the present infrastructure not sufficient to support a quality learning environment. The main building is in shambles. The class rooms are usually jam-packed and don't have proper lighting and ventilation arrangements.
