Sheikh Sahil (born 28 April 2000) is an Indian footballer. He plays for Indian Super League club ATK Mohun Bagan FC. His playing position is Central Midfielder.

Career

Early career

Sahil started his career at Mohun Bagan academy. As a young player he took part various youth tournaments and leagues with Mohun Bagan. He also played in the U-16 I- League as a part of Mohun Bagan youth team. He first came on limelight in youth development league organised by IFA and Zee Bangla, though his team was the runners up in the tournament.[1]

Senior career

In the tournament, he showed his potentiality and skills and as a result he was signed by the then coach Kibu Vicuna in the senior team on a four-year deal.[2] He was a dependable man in 2019–20 season for Mohun Bagan. He won the I-League in the 2019 season for Mohun Bagan.[3]

CFL

He was chosen by Kibu Vicuna for the 2019-20 Calcutta Football League.

Durand Cup

He made his Durand cup debut on 2 August 2019 against Mohammedan SC. His team won the match 2–0.[4]

I-League

On November 30, 2019, he made his I-League debut against Aizawl FC as substitute in the 2nd half replacing PM Britto.[5] He made his first team squad entry on the 4th match of his team, against Gokulam Kerala on 16 December. He inspired his team to win as a result 2–1.

Style of play

The 19- years old young boy has potentiality to do more according to football pundits. He highly impressed Kibu Vicuna, the former coach of Mohun Bagan by his playing ability. In his youth academy days, he used to play as defender. But in the senior team he was converted to Central Midfielder by team management.[5] With 87% passing accuracy, he has a wide range of ball delivery ability. He always keep calm and nerves during any difficult situation that is a positive attribute of his character.[6]
