SAS: Who Dares Wins
SAS: Who Dares Wins is a reality quasi-military training television programme produced by Channel 4 in the United Kingdom.[1] There have been five main series since 2015.[1] The Chief-instructor of the TV-show is Ant Middleton who is an ex-United Kingdom Special Forces soldier.[2] The TV show pits contestants against harsh environments all around the world in a two-week long training course that is designed to replicate Special Air Service selection; a notoriously difficult programme that has been known to claim the lives of those who take it on.[3] The show's directing staff take the recruits through hostile and unforgiving warfare environments, while testing their mental and physical ability through a series of tests.[3]

The fourth series which aired in early 2019 allowed female recruits to take part for the first time, in line with the Ministry of Defence's announcement that Special Forces selection would be open to women.[4] In April 2019, a special series in which all of the contestants were celebrities was aired as Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.[2] Among the celebrity contestants were Olympic gold medalist Victoria Pendleton,[5],England rugby players Ben Foden and Heather Fisher, AJ Odudu, Jeff Brazier, Wayne Bridge, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson, Andrea McLean, Hollywood actor Jeremy Irvine, Dev (BBC Radio 1 DJ), former Conservative Party MP Louise Mensch and former Love Island contestant Camilla Thurlow.[6] The fifth series proper aired in January and February, 2020.[7]
A second celebrity series began airing on Monday 20 April 2020.[8] Among the celebrity contestants were: Katie Price, Joey Essex, Anthea Turner, Helen Skelton, Brendan Cole, John Fashanu, Nikki Sanderson, Jack Maynard (brother of Conor Maynard), Lauren Steadman, Locksmith (DJ of Rudimental), Yasmin Evans (BBC Radio 1 DJ) and Tony Bellew.[9]
An Australian version of the show is currently being produced for Seven Network. The series will feature Ant Middleton as the chief instructor. In March 2020 while on location in New Zealand, the show stopped production half way through filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No further details about whether the show will continue have yet been announced.
