Rory Palmer

Rory Palmer (born 19 November 1981) is a British Labour Party politician. He became Labour Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands on 3 October 2017 and remained in this role until the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the EU on 31 January 2020.[1]

Political career

Palmer was a Leicester city councillor for Eyres Monsell from 2007 to 2017 and deputy to the Mayor of Leicester Peter Soulsby.[2]

In the 2010 general election, he stood in Bosworth.[3]

In the 2014 European Parliament election, he was second on the Labour party list in the East Midlands constituency[4] but was not elected. Glenis Willmott MEP announced in July 2017 that she would stand down in October and Palmer succeeded her.[5]
