Career
Early work
Robin Bain is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from the USC School of Dramatic Arts.[2][3] Bain subsequently went on to perform as an actress on the NBC comedy series, The Real Wedding Crashers,[4] Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia[5] and alongside rockstar, Gene Simmons in a commercial promoting his television series, Gene Simmons Family Jewels.[6] Bain then made guest appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno[7] and Real Time with Bill Maher.[8]
Bain acted as a live action character on Seth Green's Emmy Award-winning animated show Robot Chicken, which airs on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.[9] She also voiced multiple characters for the 2009 Robot Chicken Christmas special.[10]
Robin Bain worked behind the scenes learning the ropes as a unit production manager in commercial and music video production and went on to write and direct her own work.[2] Working as a director, Bain has been at the helm of several music videos, most notably videos featuring In This Moment singer, Maria Brink[11] and country music band, The Clark Family Experience.[12]
Bain's 2003 short film, Paper Doll was screened on the independent film festival circuit, and earned Bain nominations for Best Actress, Best Director and a win for Best Short at the SMMASH Film Festival.[13]
Writer and director
Robin Bain wrote, directed and produced the independent film, Girl Lost (film), which speaks on the harsh realities of sex trafficking in the United States. Girl Lost was released on Amazon Prime Video in May 2018 by Cinema Epoch.[14][15]
Bain wrote, is producing and is appearing in a lead role in the film Without You I'm Nothing, alongside actor Dolph Lundgren.[16]
Robin Bain is an advocate for female filmmakers and is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors.[17] Bain is also an author for Ms. In The Biz, a website dedicated to female filmmakers. Bain often gears her writing toward controversial subjects regarding women in the film industry.[18]
Personal life
Bain is skilled with firearms.[19][20] Bain's father served as a physician in the United States Army.[21] She resides in Los Angeles, California.[22]
