Robert Kabushenga

Robert Kabushenga formerly Mukholi in Lugisu is a Ugandan journalist and lawyer. He is currently the CEO of The New Vision Group in Uganda.[1][2] He is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University,[3] and he is a former moderator of Capital Gang at 91.3 Capital Fm .[4]

He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala and is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and a member of the Uganda and East Africa Law Societies.[5] Robert's previous work experience includes Executive Director and secretary of the Uganda Media Centre, Legal and Administration Officer of the Monitor Publications Ltd.[3] He is a Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative-East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

In 2004, he published an article that Makerere University had faded due to increased competition.[6] He was termed the National Resistance Movement Liability in 2006.[7] After his(Blake Lambert) expulsion from Uganda, he wrote that Kabushenga appointment as CEO was to deny free press in Uganda.[8] He wrote an article about the death of Late Nobel Mayombo critics and bashing by Andrew Mwenda and Kyalengera in 2007.[9] Under his leadership in 2011, Vision Group's profit rose up by 309% from 2010.[10] Robert was among the group of professionals who supported President Museveni in 2011 presidential elections.[11] In 2013, he declared that he would be contesting for FUFA presidency.[12] He also ordered all New Vision Group staff to wear Uganda jerseys at the Uganda vs Ghana Kick off 2017 AFCON match.[13] In 2014, he was once detained in custody for allegedly knocking his nephew over the land case,[14][15] in which he won and got 14 million damage compensation.[16] He has also trashed the allegations that more Covid-19 funds were given to the Vision Group to print learning materials.[17] He has been selected by hon. Ruth Achieng along with other leaders to spearhead private sector Covid-19 response team.[18] He was also among a 15-member team appointed by prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda to head the Covid-19 fundraising drive.[19] He is one of well known Ugandan farmers who encourages others,[20] and also hosted the Omukama of Tooro Oyo[21] and Katikiro on his coffee and banana plantation farms in Namayumbe Sub-county .[22] His salary and staff were allegedly cut due to Covid-19 outbreak.[23][24] In 2019, he punished top Vision Group editors for giving free publicity to Gen. Tumukunde.[25] He is also a promoter of Agro business encouraging people to invest in Agriculture.[26][27] He was allegedly fired for causing an economic hit in 2017, which never happened.[28] He has also partnered on behalf of Vision Group with Wakaliwood to promote local films.[29] In 2017, he supported the Kabaka run against sickle cell anaemia .[30] He has also encouraged and redirected people to have principles and ingenuity to win in their positions.[31]
