Early life and career

Raised in Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines, Raymond Manalo was an active choir member in school. His mother is Cynthia Manaloto-Manalo and his father is Orlando De Leon Manalo. He has two siblings Cristine Joy Manalo-Lao, and Edralyn Manalo.

Raymond was a member of Holy Angel Music Club and became its founding president during his high school year at Holy Angel University. He is a totally self-taught musician.

During his college days, Raymond was granted a scholarship for joining the Angelite Musical Ambassador. He took up Financial Accounting at Holy Angel University in Angeles, where in his in third year college he stopped to join the Search for a Star.

Before he joined the competition, Raymond was a member of a boy band called DNA, of which Erik Santos was also a member of the group.

After the competition, Raymond signed a contract with Viva Recording. Ever since he emerged as runner-up to Rachelle Ann Go in Search for a Star, people have been waiting for Raymond Manalo to make his own push toward stardom. Raymond has finally come into his own with the release of his debut album, entitled Faithfully, under Viva Records. The album contains Raymond's revival of Kung Alam Ko Lang, which was a big hit for Toni Daya in the early '90s. The song, which is the album's carrier single, has been getting very good airplay, making people wonder who the singer is. Imagine their surprise upon finding out that it was none other than Raymond himself! Yet even as he is making waves in Manila, Raymond is one person who never forgets to go back to his roots. When he's not so busy, he goes home to Pampanga to touch base with friends and family.

Soon after he decided to continue and finish his studies in Manila. He graduated with the degree in Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management on September 2007 at the Asian Institute for Distance Education located in Makati City, Philippines.

gollark: Or indeed *any* random stuff someone is transmitting, unless it's explicitly meant for me/broadcasting.
gollark: For example, the wireless telegraphy act some year or other technically forbids me from using my £30 RTL-SDR stick for picking up entirely unencrypted pager messages or whatever just broadcast over the radio spectrum.
gollark: Really, aren't MANY laws stupid?

gollark: You see, a while ago, SCP-033 had a containment breach, and overtook the entire world. Now we're just used to it.
