Rave Mobile Safety (formerly Rave Wireless) is an American software company founded in New York City in 2004, and currently based in Framingham, Massachusetts. The company provides a suite of software applications for safety. Investors include Bain Capital Ventures, Sigma Partners, and RRE Ventures.[1]

History

Initially the company was focused primarily on higher education institutes and offered customized mobile phone services and associated services. Their first customer was Montclair State University in NJ, which won the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety award for their implementation of the Rave Guardian product.[2] The company moved into solely focusing on safety applications and now claims over 1,400 higher education institutions now use their emergency notification system and/or mobile safety apps.

In 2010, the company launched a new product called Smart911, with Nashville TN being the first reported customer.[3]

Since 2010, the company claims Smart911 (now called the Rave 911 Suite), expanded to 500 9-1-1 centers in 42 U.S. states as customers, covering a population of 50 million. Notable communities utilizing the service include the State of Arkansas,[4] Washington DC,[5] and Atlanta, GA.[6]

In 2015, the company announced a new product, Rave Panic Button, which was launched in Everett (WA) Schools, in Snohomish Washington.[7] The company now claims over 2,000 K-12 schools use the Rave Panic Button including every school in the state of Arkansas,[8] and in schools across both Nassau[9] and Suffolk Counties in NY.[10]

In 2017, the company expanded into Canada, acquiring ERMS, a Canadian emergency notification provider.[11]

In January 2020, Rave announced its tenth consecutive year of growth. Increased demand for Rave's communication platform and use of Rave's solutions for school and public safety resulted in a 50% increase on new software bookings in 2019.[12]
