The Ratoh Duek dance is very popular outside Aceh province, but this dance outside Aceh is often considered to be the Saman dance. The Ratoh Duek dance is a derivative creation of the Saman Dance. With the establishment of the saman dance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, saman dance has since been banned from being performed by women and may only be performed by men wearing typical Gayo clothing. The saman dance that is usually played by young women on the coast turns into a diligent duek. From dilek duek then changed again to Rateb meuseukat dance.[1]
